Getting ready for the road trip (06/24/2009)
Nina is reading a book titled Guide to the Alaska Highway to get ready for our trip. I hope it is a worst-case scenario. At least I guess forewarned is forearmed. Permafrost, dust storms, gravel roads, construction, fires, and wildlife all provide unique driving experiences. It does have some great warnings and suggestions in it to make the trip more enjoyable and safe. I like the one that says keep the camera and binoculars close by so you do not miss the bear or moose that walks in front of you. We are really looking forward to the scenery along the way. We have seen some of the Midwest and Canada but not all the areas we will be traveling through.

Make sure you are looking out for those moose before you need the binoculars...they will put a nice dent in your car to remember them by!!
ReplyDeleteLet the adventure begin. Weather looks pretty good in Delta Junction today-especially compared to here in Georgia. I'll have to check in with you in January--around the 21st (shortest day) and see how it's going then.
ReplyDeleteI like the blog--don't forget to post your pictures and video of Bullwinkle.
Ok-where'd my comment go--I tried to put in a correction--but it's missing! My first comment should read December--not January--for shortest day. But, checking in January isn't such a bad idea either. It will actually be colder I'm sure--but a bit lighter, maybe. You'll have to be sure to give us updates.
